Buyers Guide to bra styles galore
popular bra styles
Some of the more popular styles of bra are:
Sports Bras: usually have maximum support and comfort while participating in sporting activities. Sports bras provide support, motion control and comfort while having a snug fit. Sports bras or jogging bras can usually also been worn as outer wear.
Convertible Bra: A convertible bra has inter-changeable straps which can turn the bra into a racer-back, strapless or halter style.
Demi-cup bra: The Demi Cup bra is a half-cup bra. It generally covers half the breast giving a bare-minimum look. Try a demi bra when wearing a plunging or revealing neckline. Designed with wide-set cups that just cover the nipple, they offer good support with maximum exposure.
Padded Bras: Padded bras generally have padding which gives the impression of a fuller bust. Many Push Up bras are padded. They are worn to enhance small breasts and also give them a shapely look.
Underwire Bras: Underwire bras come with wires placed right below the cups to provide extra lift and support to the larger breasted woman. Generally underwires should be used by women who wear a B cup size and larger. The wires are there to support the cups of the bra.
Training Bras: Ttraining bras or teen bras are designed for newly developing young girls. These bras are designed more for camouflage then support. They are usually made with fun and flexible prints with the youth in mind.
Nursing Bras: These are specialty bras used by new mothers to nurse their children. The cups can be opened to feed the child. A nursing bra provides good support and should have some extra room for nursing pads. The front cups will open to provide easy access to the breast to enable nursing mothers to nurse their baby. Consider cups or flaps that are easy to open and close with one hand.
Generally women will have many styles of bras to chose from as part of their wardrobe. There are a lot of practical considerations when choosing a bra style, for instance a lace bra could show lumps and bumps through a top made of light fabric. And, finally a word of caution - all bras are not created equally, a good quality bra will not wear out as quickly as a cheap bra and should provide lasting comfort. Also, with proper care, the life of a bra will be extended.
